Brinkley Fire Department

Brinkley Fire Department started in 1895 and covers the Northern half of Monroe county, including a 13 mile stretch of Interstate 40.

The new station was built in 2002 and is fully staffed with 17 firefighters (All are paid volunteers, 1 full-time, 16 part-time). The station is open 40 hours a week, with firefighters on call 24/7.

The department is equipped with 4 pumper trucks, 1 wild land brush truck and a truck specifically for vehicle extraction. They do not respond to medical calls, but have several certified first responders in the department. The department has an excellent training program and has over 100 years of cumulative experience.

In addition to serving as the Chief of the Brinkley Fire Department, Chief Hamner is a member of the Brinkley Air Port Commission.

He says, “God gives each one of us a gift. Mine is to be a servant. It is a job that has to be done and you can’t sit back and wait for someone else to do it.”
